Truck and Bin Specifications
How Big Is the Truck?
Our truck measures approximately 10 meters long, 2.5 meters wide, and 3.5 meters high. This provides the capacity and space needed to handle a variety of scrap metal removal jobs throughout the Southern Highlands.
If you are arranging a pickup, make sure there is suitable access for the truck to reach the collection area safely.
How Much Weight Can the Truck Hold?
Our HIAB truck can hold up to 10 tonnes. For larger jobs, our tilt tray can carry loads of up to 20 tonnes — suitable for buses, trucks, and heavy machinery.
For large loads, contact us before arranging your pickup so we can discuss your requirements and access to the property.
How Much Can Your Hiab Lift?
Our Hiab can lift up to 4 tonnes. The Hiab truck provides additional lifting capability for larger or heavier items that may be difficult to move manually.
This equipment can be useful when removing large pieces of machinery, metal structures, equipment, and other heavy scrap.
How Big Are Your Bins?
Our scrap metal bins measure approximately 2.5 meters long, 1.2 meters wide, and 1 meter high.
Our free bin drop-off service can provide a convenient way to collect and store scrap metal on suitable properties before our team collects it.
Do We Need a Bin If We Have Large Items Like a Fridge or Sheets of Metal?
No. If you have larger items such as a fridge, metal sheets, or similar materials, you do not necessarily need a bin.
You can simply stack the items in an accessible heap where our truck can safely reach them. If you are unsure how to prepare your scrap metal for pickup, contact our team for advice.
What is the tilt tray and what jobs is it suited to?
Our tilt tray truck is designed for large-scale removals. The tray tilts down and ramps allow vehicles or heavy equipment to be driven or winched on. Pick-Up Service
When Stacking Metal for Pickup, Where Should We Place It?
When preparing scrap metal for collection, place it clear of overhead power lines and other obstacles.
The collection area should provide safe and suitable access for our truck and equipment. Keeping the scrap in an accessible location can help make the pickup process easier and more efficient.
Do You Collect Non-Ferrous Metals Such as Copper and Lead?
Yes. Leewood Scrap Metal collects both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.
Our services can include materials such as steel, aluminum, copper, lead, brass, tin, and other suitable scrap metals. If you are unsure whether we can collect a particular material, give us a call and we can discuss it with you.
Do You Pay Money for Scrap?
We may pay for larger loads and complete items of interest, subject to conditions.
If you have a large quantity of scrap metal, an old vehicle, machinery, or another complete item that may be of interest, contact our team to discuss your requirements.
Do You Operate on Weekends as Well as During the Week?
Yes. Leewood Scrap Metal operates 7 days a week, including public holidays.
Our flexible operating schedule makes it easier for residential, commercial, rural, and industrial customers to arrange scrap metal removal at a convenient time.
Can you remove large items like buses and hay sheds?
Yes. We can assist with the removal of large items such as buses and hay sheds.
Our HIAB truck and tilt tray allow us to handle a range of larger scrap metal removal requirements. For large or unusual items, contact our team first so we can discuss the job, access, and equipment required.
Is there anything you don't pick up?
Yes — there are two things we don't collect: fencing wire and gas bottles. Fencing wire causes damage to metal processing equipment. Gas bottles pose a safety risk, even when empty. If you're unsure about anything else, give us a call and we'll do our best to help.
